Cadenhead

Established in 1842 by William Cadenhead, Cadenhead is Scotland's oldest independent bottler. Cadenhead's remained in the same family until in 1977 the company and its stock was purchased by J & A Mitchell and Co, the proprietors of the famous Springbank and Glengyle distilleries of Campbeltown. The Cadenhead range has a long standing reputation amongst fans of single cask bottlings, and these days the selection process is headed by Mark Watt who is well known and respected nose. The range comprises two seperate bottlings, one at cask strength and the other at 46% from either single casks or very small batches (between 2-3). A sign of their very early origins in the Scotch whisky trade is evident by their usage of the Glenlivet suffix for certain Speyside whiskies not coming from the Glenlivet distillery, instead referring to an geographical term, a practice seldom used these days
