This iteration of Alvarinho shows the versatility of this amazing grape. Aged in barrel and undergoing lees contact (sobre lias = sur lie), this is a big, bold and beautiful white wine. Butter, butterscotch, ripe stone and exotic fruits and a fulllllllllll body make this the perfect accompaniment to scallops with honey and white truffle, steak frites with béarnaise sauce, or simply as a treat for lovers of rich Chardonnay, Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc and the like.

Nestled in the hills neighbouring the Minho River and the Atlantic Ocean lies Quinta de Paços, a family-based agricultural society which has been producing high-quality wines with a distinctive personality since at least the early 16th-Century. Their wines have long been internationally recognised as exceptional, from winning their first international award in 1876 to presently having wines rated within the top fifty of Portugal. 500-years of wine production and viticulture - certified sustainable to the highest EU standard - results in balanced wines that express their unique terroir, with just the right amount of winemaking to showcase the characteristics of indigenous white Portuguese varieties. Their use of Loureiro & Alvarinho are particularly exciting; the former (translating to "Bayleaf") is beautifully aromatic, perhaps reminding one of the Loire Valley, Alsace or Germany. The iconic Alvarinho- best know globally as Albariño, as it is called in neighbouring Spain- cultivated in the prized sub-region of Monção-Melgaço, whose conditions allow the grape to flourish and be transformed into bold, fresh & mineral white wines of the highest calibre. These wines are excellent with a range of seafood & sunshine.
