CHIANTI CLASSICO RISERVA

This is a "top cuvée" made in limited quantities and only in the best years using select fruit from the Estate vineyards.

Fermentation for the Sangiovese is with specially-selected yeasts and maceration takes place in temperature controlled cement vats. The wine spends 12 months in French barriques before being blended. The Cabernet Sauvignon is vinified separately in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats and is then racked into French barriques, of which half are new, before being assembled with the Sangiovese.

Having been partially aged in one-to two-year-old barriques, the wine shows depth of flavours and complexity in its aromas. It is characterized by an intense nose of black cherries and brambles, along with spicy vanilla and a rich fruit texture. A wine with impeccable balance. Full-bodied, sumptuous and complex with velvety tannins that will get even finer with age.

Varieties: 85% Sangiovese - 10% Cabernet Sauvignon - 5% Merlot

Alcohol: 13.5%

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Tenuta di Riseccoli

The RISECCOLI estate and our wines tell a story beginning in the early 20th century when renowned Florentine artist Prof. Romano Romanelli (1882-1969) acquired the land, villas, vines and olive groves in the hills above Greve in Chianti.

From a line of artists and mainly known as a member of the prestigious Florence Academy of Art, Professor Romanelli had a comparable interest in agriculture and viticulture.

In those days, friends of the Romanelli family were among the fortunate few to enjoy the fine wines and extra-virgin olive oil from the RISECCOLI estate.

Over the years the circle of RISECCOLI wine lovers grew as the Romanelli family embarked on several viticultural studies and experiments, always aiming to bring to life wines representative of the terroir and the Tuscan winemaking tradition.

The winery is still in the family and the next generations continue with the same passion as Professor Romanelli and the belief that the finest examples of Chianti Classico wines are crafted and produced in smaller parcels.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Sangiovese

Sangiovese is Italy's most important and widely planted grape varietal. Traditionally it is famous in all of the sub-regions of Tuscany particularly so in Chianti, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Sangiovese is planted in almost all of the regions across Italy where it makes everything from savoury and spicy reds to supple and black fruit bombs.

--------THE REGION--------

Tuscany

Tuscany is a wine region in central Italy. Depending on how much you know about Italian wine it is often one of the most known or talked about wine regions thanks to the fame of the mighty sub-region: Chianti. Tuscany is home to many a fruity and spicy red wine often made from the grape: Sangiovese.
