our story
Cable Bay Vineyards, one of New Zealand’s most renowned vineyards, is nestled on the stunning west coast of Waiheke Island. We produce premium, hand-crafted wines from estate-owned vineyards on Waiheke Island and in Marlborough—two of New Zealand’s most celebrated wine regions. Our journey began in 1998 with the planting of our first vineyard on Waiheke Island. By 2002, our very first Chardonnay won gold at the prestigious International Wine Challenge in London, marking the beginning of our success.
In 2007, we opened our winery, cellar door, and award-winning dining room, offering the finest in New Zealand hospitality, complete with breathtaking sea views. The estate also features expansive lawns, olive groves, organic gardens, and private event spaces.
Our growth continued in 2013 with the opening of The Verandah restaurant, known for its Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Around the same time, we expanded into Marlborough’s renowned Awatere Valley, acquiring additional vineyards. All of our vineyards are certified under New Zealand Sustainable Winegrowing, with select wines also certified organic by BioGro.
