This Hawkes Bay Cabernet Franc is my tribute to Francie,  my mother. Like she, the wine has an easy charm and steely determination.

Grapes from mature vines; grown in deep free-draining gravels, Francie typifies the allure of Cabernet Franc and beguiles the senses with velvety texture, bold intriguing flavours, and a fine lingering structure.

Fragrant red rose and spicy raspberries wrapped in tobacco-scented velvet and gently laced with a ribbon of satin.

Be charmed by Francie in her youth and continue to enjoy the complexity enhanced by bottle maturation.

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Jenny Dobson

Jenny Dobson is one of New Zealand's most accomplished winemakers, known in her early vinous life as the winemaker at Chateau Senejac in the Medoc, a position most unusual for a woman in those days. Her arrival into the Hawke’s Bay has seen her partake in many viticultural and vinification ventures but her main role was winemaker at Sacred Hill. This project is her own eponymous brand: Jenny Dobson.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Cabernet Franc blend

Cabernet Franc is thought to have its origins in the Basque Country in South Western France.  DNA evidence shows it is one of the parents of cabernet sauvignon (along with sauvignon blanc).  Cabernet franc is often partnered with merlot in red wine blends and it is THE grape variety used to make red wines from Chinon and Bourgueil in the Loire Valley.

--------THE REGION--------

Hawkes Bay

Sunny Hawkes Bay is along the eastern coast of New Zealand's north island. It is here where some of the most fruit-forward wines come from. They are known for their tropical Chardonnays and their juicy reds from the excellent Bordeaux wines to the peppery Syrahs.
