Riesling

Riesling is known as one of the most versatile and interesting grapes in the wine world. It is capable of a highly varied range of aromatics, perhaps more so than any other grape, from floral to tropical, stonefruit to citrus, nutty to spicy, mineral to sweet. Germany is it's home and also where 2/3s of the world's planting of Riesling is found. The most famous regions for Riesling are the Mosel Valley and the Rheingau where you will find lighter off-dry whites to luscious sweet whites. Also popular in Alsace where it producers fuller bodied and dry wines. Given its appeal you will find it across the new world from New York to New Zealand. Most notably it has gained a reputation for steely and limey examples in the Eden and Clare Valleys of Australia.
