It is now well established that Central Otago produces wines of outstanding varietal definition and Quartz Reef is no exception. Specialising in premium Methode Traditionnelle, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, Quartz Reef showcases the proven winemaking talents of Austrian-born Rudi Bauer.

Rudi’s talent was recognised for his success at the 2010 Royal Easter Show Wine Awards where he was awarded Winemaker of the Year. This followed his highly coveted nomination for the International Winemaker of the Year Award at the prestigious Der Feinschmecker Wine Awards, dubbed the Oscars of the wine world.

Rudi searches to make wines which exhibit ‘a symphony of flavours’ that ‘capture attention and entertain so that you forget everything else’. Quartz Reef Methode Traditionnelle is fresh, crisp and lively, the Pinot Gris is a dry style complimenting food of all flavours and the Pinot Noir is firm and intense with notes of ripe black cherry, pomegranate and spice.
