Quest Farm
It was in 1999 when Mark Mason left the winery he had started just over a decade earlier in the Hawkes Bay: Sacred Hill, to start his very own in Central Otago. It took him a few years to bulldoze away the roaming bush that covered the steep slopes of his 145 hectares but he ended up with 18 very unique vineyard sights with a range of slopes and soils. Mark is very hands own and a bit of a traditional artisan in the winery where he uses hand-picking, hand-plunging and plays around with the amount of skin contact and types of ferments that he has going. All in all, the most important thing to Mark is the power of the aromatics and you only need to taste his wines to know why.
