Reefton Distilling - Moonlight Creek Chronicle Series 1888 Single Malt Whisky 40% 700ml
The inaugural release in Moonlight Creek's Chronicle Series, 1888 captures both the pioneering spirit of Reefton and the promise of New Zealand whisky. Crafted entirely in Reefton from New Zealand malted barley and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it reveals layers of dark fruit, orchard fruit and confectionary spice, carried by a remarkably smooth and elegant texture. A whisky defined not by power, but by balance, precision and a strong sense of place.
ABOUT THE PRODUCER
Reefton Distillery is a modern West Coast success story. A small‑town operation turning rainforest water, local botanicals, and a deep sense of place into award‑winning spirits.
Reefton Distilling Co. was founded in 2017 in the historic mining town of Reefton, drawing on the region’s lush native rainforest, abundant rainfall, and pioneering heritage to create spirits that feel unmistakably tied to Te Tai Poutini. The distillery operates out of a restored 1870s general store and has grown rapidly, producing internationally awarded gin, vodka, liqueurs, and now whisky. Their production leans heavily on local identity. From foraged botanicals to pristine West Coast water filtered over gifted pounamu, and their whisky programme centres on “George,” their 1800‑litre copper pot still named after legendary gold prospector George Fairweather Moonlight.
