"Its is a big bold red that shows a heady, lifted nose of violets, earthy mulberry, red currants, liquorice, and macerated damson plums, with complexing notes of tannery leather, sappy hedgerow, and sweet cedar and clove spice. Despite the opulent, seductive, confit fruit notes, there is a dusty, crushed grey slate mineral vein that starts on the nose and continues right through the palate."
Savage Wines
Savage Wines is a winery that sources fruit from across South Africa with the vision to producing some of South Africa's top wines. It was started in 2011 by Duncan Savage who after 14 years winemaking experience decided to start his own artisanal winery. His goal is to produce rock-solid classic and elegant wines. His wines are made from top grapes from across South Africa's Western Cape. In his short history he has already gained recognition from top wine critics such as Tim Atkin MW, Jamie Goode and Robert Parker's Wine Advocate.
Touriga Nacional
Touriga Nacional is the leading quality red grape varietal of Portugal. Whilst it is most highly regarded when used in the fortified wines of Port made in the Douro Valley, it is becoming recognised as a leading grape in "table" red wines, also. Sometimes it is referred to as Portugal's Cabernet Sauvignon as it has a richness, complexity and array of black fruit flavours akin to that of a great Cabernet Sauvignon.
