?? The vanguard carries a super generous mix of red liquorice, bay leaf, oreganum, cherry candy.
A supremely clean clear citrus juiciness hits your straight out the gate, tempered ever so slightly by notes of boiled cherry candy and red plum fruit. The acidity morphs into a lovely tart raspberry and sour cherry finish. Tannins are supremely silky and light, but just enough to hold out a gentle but lingering tail of raspberry and ripe cherry fruit.

Sons of Sugarland Barbera 2021 is from grapes grown by Albertus van der Merwe of Goudini, the winemaker being the acclaimed Reenen Borman.

Attractive aromatics of red berries, tea leaf, violets and earth precede a palate showing relatively generous fruit, lemon-like acidity and soft tannins. While this makes for pleasant everyday drinking, it doesn’t suggest that local plantings of Barbera should be radically increased.
