CABERNET SAUVIGNON, MERLOT, PETIT VERDOT, CABERNET FRANC, MALBEC, CARMENERE

Larose is a massive, dense wine of huge power, extraction, and ripeness. The nose is initially perfume of rose and violet, then sandalwood and cedar. A deep vein of black and blue fruits follow and come to the fore after some vigorous swirling in the glass. The palate is opulent and rich, with gently grippy but fine structure and huge length. Larose will continue to develop in bottle for long period of time, with a drinking window of 10-30 years

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Stonyridge

Stonyridge Vineyard was created in 1981 by Stephen White who discovered the spot and thought it would be the ideal spot to ripen Bordeaux vines. After extensive research the first vines were planted in 1982 and the rest is history, as they say. In 2000 it was considered equal to the first growths of Bordeaux thanks to the excellent 1996 vintage. In short, the top heads of state have enjoyed their wines along with many of the world's wine lovers.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Malbec

Whilst today Malbec is probably best known as being the red grape varietal that is behind the juicy, full-bodied red wines of Mendoza in Argentina. It is historically from the South-West of France in the region of Cahors. In both of these regions it produces single varietal wines which are loaded with black fruit flavours.

--------THE REGION--------

Waiheke Island

Waiheke Island is a 40 minute ferry ride from Auckland's main harbour and has a range of microclimates completely unique to the island. It is the home to many exciting wines but are the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blends and the Syrahs that have put it on the map here and across the world.
