Arneis

Arneis is a fragrant white grape from Piedmont in north-west Italy, where it's best known from the Roero hills and has long been nicknamed "little rascal" for being a tricky vine to grow. It makes dry, medium-bodied whites with white peach, pear, almond and blossom, a gentle floral lift and a slightly bitter almond finish, and is at its best from Roero Arneis. It's also been taken up here in New Zealand and in Australia and California, and is a lovely match for antipasto, light seafood, risotto and fresh salads.
