Fiano

Fiano is a characterful white grape from Campania in southern Italy, where it's best known from Fiano di Avellino, one of the country's most celebrated white wines, and it has been grown there since Roman times. It makes dry, textural whites with ripe pear, hazelnut, honey, citrus and a hint of smoke, balanced by fresh acidity, and the best examples age surprisingly well, developing waxy, nutty depth. It's also found in Sicily, Puglia and Australia's McLaren Vale, and is a great match for grilled seafood, roast chicken, creamy pasta and mild cheeses.
