Spend an evening enjoying great food and wine and learning a little more about the history of the drink we love. Bacchus, God of wine (Dionysius for the Greeks) conjures images of wild rites and excesses. Explore the place of wine in ancient Greece more deeply, seek to understand the hold this wonderful beverage has on us and what it might have been like to be a wine consumer in ancient Athens. You will be led on this incredible journey by Carlene Wilson. She'll draw on her background in Archaeology, Ancient History and Classics, as well as a life-time of buying, drinking, collecting and loving wine to answer some more tantalising questions.
We will taste 8 wines from Greece and Georgia.
