"Very similar to the Bellovedere but also quite different. This is more powerful on the nose with a hauntingly beautiful dark fruit and floral nose. Licorice and clove hit me straight away soon to be followed by black cherries and dried currants. Prunes and leather on the palate with those classic soft-as-silk tannins."

--------THE PRODUCER--------

La Valentina

Sabatino Di Properzio established Fattoria La Valentina in 1990 and the outstanding wines from the 2000 vintage propelled the family estate into the top ranks of Abruzzo producers. Subsequent vintages have endorsed La Valentina’s ranking and Italy’s prestigious food & wine magazine ‘Gambero Rosso’ has evaluated and elevated this winery to a position amongst Italy’s leading wine producers.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Montepulciano

Montepulciano is one of Italy's favourite grape varietals. You will most likely see it from from the region of Montepulciano d'Abbruzo of Puglia but it is found across the southern Italian regions. It is known for its lovely dark purple and black fruit flavours.

--------THE REGION--------

Abruzzo

Abruzzo is a region in the south of Italy on the eastern coast. It is a long expansive region with many flat areas perfect for vineyards as well as a few higher altitude sights for top-quality wine production along the shore. It is largely home to red wine production of Montepulciano - most famous examples coming from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
