TheKerner is a rare variety in South Tyrol. Just 2% or just over 100 hectares are planted with it. Especially in the Isarco Valley it produces beautiful white wines with fragrance and lively freshness.

The Kerner has its origins in Württemberg, where it was created from Trollinger and Riesling. In the Isarco Valley it grows in very high vineyards up to 970 meters, which, thanks to their coolness, ideally match the character of the Kerner.

The Kerner Klassik from the Eisacktaler Kellerei has a straw yellow color with greenish reflections. The scent is reminiscent of yellow fruits such as peach and apricot, plus it has a subtle spice reminiscent of nutmeg. The taste is very lively, fresh and intense, and its aromatic nature is reflected in the aftertaste. For us the best white wine from the winery's classic series; it is not without reason that it is sold at a slightly higher price than the other grape varieties.

Due to its fresh nature, the Eisacktal Kerner is a very good aperitif; it also goes very well with fish, vegetables and hearty salads.

ABOUT THE PRODUCER

Here at the Cantina Merano Winery we are deeply rooted in our land. Tradition, the landscape and wine growing have all been closely interlinked in the Meraner Land region since time immemorial. The first building block in the foundation of our winery cooperative was laid as long ago as 1901 by just a few winegrowers. Nowadays, after the merger of the Burggräfler and Merano wineries in 2010, our cooperative numbers about 360 members. Only with their support was it possible to undertake the building work to successfully renovate and extend the Cantina Merano Winery in Marling.
