This marks the final entry in the 'low hanging' distilleries of Decadent Drinks' Islay Sponge series. While the jury is still out on when a Port Ellen or Lagavulin might make an appearance, this Caol Ila 13-year-old perfectly encapsulates the essence of this iconic Islay distillery. A blend of two vintages, the cask mix features 50% 2009 refill sherry hogshead and 50% 2010 1st fill sherry hogshead. The result is a wonderfully peaty Caol Ila expression, subtly layered with the elegance of gentle sherry influence.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: The classic Caol Ila profile shines through with prominent peat smoke, sea salt, and coastal freshness. There's a noticeable richness and maturity, with earthy sherry notes, medicinal qualities, and a robust smoky backbone.

Palate:
A powerful arrival on the palate with the clean, pure Caol Ila distillate at its core. It's beautifully balanced by the nutty, salty sherry notes, accompanied by soot-covered peat, smoked fish, and preserved lemons brined to perfection.
Finish: Long and complex, with lingering salty peat, cured meats, salted almonds, and a touch of liquorice.
