This is a 15 year old single malt distilled at Loch Lomond Distillery in 2009. We made it by mashing together a refill hogshead of 2009 Loch Lomond single malt, with a 1st fill hogshead of 2009 Inchmurrin single malt.
Both those casks were dumped together into an IBC, left to marry and then returned to the same two casks for a couple of months to continue marrying. We re-combined them before bottling and reduced the mix by a few degrees to 53% to help bring everything together and emphasise the fruitiness of the combined malts.
We wanted to create a bottling that had the body, oiliness and weight of Loch Lomond, with the absurd, exotic fruitiness of Inchmurrin. We believe we have succeeded in this venture and we’re very happy with this rather luscious potion.
It tastes like a stray olive oil tanker ran aground on the shores of Balloch, accidentally tearing a hole in the fabric of reality and allowing the contents of a magic fruit universe to spill absolutely everywhere.
