2022 vintage - An early and generous harvest

This year the harvests took place in the glorious sunshine and the fruit displayed exceptional ripeness with sugar levels in line with the average. The harvests began on the 27 August in the Côte chalonnaise with our Rully ‘Les Villeranges’ and Mercurey red. Picking in the Côte de Beaune began on the 29 August with our Corton Charlemagne, Corton ‘Clos des Cortons Faiveley’, Puligny 1ers Crus and Volnay ‘Frémiets’. We then moved on to our Monthélie and Beaune ‘Clos de l’Ecu’. In the Côte de Nuits the first of the grapes were picked on the 1 September and all of our Grand Crus were harvested in 8 days. The harvests drew to a close on the 10 September between Gevrey-Chambertin and Marsannay. It was a particularly high quality harvest this year and the grapes were intensely fragrant and in perfect health. Certain appellations were vinified partially as whole clusters: 25% for the Mercurey ‘La Framboisière’, Nuits-Saint-Georges ‘Les Montroziers’ and 1er Cru ‘Aux Chaignots’, 50% for the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru ‘Les Amoureuses’ and Musigny Grand Cru.

A note for 2022: after a growing season that was conducted fully in line with organic practices, we officially requested organic conversion on the 18 July 2022.

THE WINES At this still early stage the wines are displaying exceptional balance and structure. The wines are seductive with discreet tannins and can be likened to those of the 2017 vintage. Their excellent ripeness and remarkable aromas are reminiscent of the outstanding 2015 vintage.
Technical Director Jérôme Flous noted that "we are absolutely thrilled with the quality of our whites, indeed they could be the best that we have ever made. Stylistically, they are absolutely classic and 2017 would be a good comparison."
