Rose, fresh herbs, some pink pepper spice and crunch red fruits sizzle on the palate. From a smaller site sitting at 300m elevation, the fruit has been fermented in steel with native yeasts before 12 months of maturation in steel and Slavonian oak. Drink this while you wait for your Barolo to mature.
--------THE PRODUCER--------

Giacomo Fenocchio

Fenocchio is one of the most highly regarded producers in all of Italy but most especially in Piemonte where they are Barolo champions. They were founded in 1864 and have been going strong ever since choosing to use organic principles early on. They produce 11 wines, the majority of these are Barolo that showcase their specific vineyards in a few of the top Barolo Crus.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Freisa

Freisa is a red grape variety native to the Piemonte region of Northwest Italy. It is a distant relative to Nebbiolo so you can expect to have a bit of a drying tannic wine from this grape however in the right hands it produces a delicate and age-worthy red like nothing else. The usual delicate red fruit flavours on the nose from currants to cranberries dominate the nose.

--------THE REGION--------

Piemonte

These are all the wines of Piemonte, a region in the northwest of Italy. It is famous for its red wines made from Nebbiolo and is home to the two super regions of Italy: Barolo and Barbaresco.
