Greywacke
Named after New Zealand’s prolific bedrock, Greywacke (pron. Greywacky) is the personal venture of Kevin Judd, one of Marlborough’s pioneer winemakers. Sourcing prime fruit from mature vineyards within the central Wairau and Southern Valleys, Kevin uses low-intervention winemaking to create wines hallmarked by their concentration, elegance and individuality. The Greywacke range is primarily based on Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, the Sauvignon Blanc being produced in two distinctly different styles. In addition to this core range, there are also limited edition releases of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Alongside winemaking, Kevin Judd has developed a parallel career in wine photography and for two decades his evocative images have appeared in countless publications worldwide. It was inevitable that Kevin’s photography would take pride of place on the labels of his solo winemaking venture – the synthesis of his dual passions.
