Aroma

This Lagavulin 12 year old is deceptive with its inviting golden hue with complimenting aromas of lemon and lightly sweet scents.

Palate

At first taste this rare beast growls gently, teasing with lemon, salty, sweetness and roasted tea. Intense blackened wood stalks the palate before a long, warming and dry finish, roaring with chilli pepper and great waves of smoke. A classic Lagavulin twelve striking in every way.

Lagavulin

From the home of great malt whisky, Islay, Lagavulin was one of the first malt distilleries there and one of seven which remain active today. The distillery dates back to 1816, when it was founded legally by John Johnston, a local farmer and distiller.

When Johnston passed away, Glasgow-based Islay merchant, Alexander Graham, acquired Lagavulin for £1,103 9s 8d. Graham upgraded the distillery’s buildings, and his successors continued to run Lagavulin. Lagaculin is known for being powerful yet ‘wonderfully rounded pleasure’.
