Boomerang' is a deliciously light, ethereal Jura red, made of the two indigenous red varieties the region is known so well for, Ploussard & Trousseau. Here sourced from their vineyards in the Côtes du Jura.
THE PRODUCER:
Jean-Baptiste Menigoz and Florien Kleine Snuverink make up the fun loving, hard working team that is Domaine Les Bottes Rouges. The two friends started out in two very different careers, in different countries and both in their own way fell in love with the world of wine. They’ve taken life changing decisions to work full time as winemakers, and they (read: we) couldn’t be happier with their choice.
A lover of music, Jean-Baptiste named the Domaine after a French song which directly translates to ‘The Red Boots’. Musical references continue to pop up in the names of his cuvées. Jura born J-B was originally a teacher, who like many, got hooked on wine and decided to take his life in a new direction. Under the tutelage of Stéphane Tissot, J-B learned the ins and outs of the wine world and in 2012 set out to produce his own wines. In 2015, former restaurant owner and wine lover Florien wanted to gain more practical experience in winemaking and joined J-B for vendange having previously worked for Yvon Métras in Beaujolais. Florien never left and has since become J-B’s business partner.
Les Bottes Rouges have slowly acquired more and more parcels as they continue to learn and produce hit after hit. The vineyards are scattered throughout Jura and planted to Savagnin, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Ploussard and Trousseau. Half owned, half leased, and all farmed organically by J-B and Florien.
Together the pair consistently produce delicious wines, and are refreshingly transparent with all aspects of their farming and winemaking. You can taste their enthusiasm and passion in all of their wines. Cuvée after cuvée, all of their wines are beautiful, alive, and thirst quenching, and each with their own subtle complexities woven throughout. Les Bottes Rouges is most certainly a crowd pleaser; they make the wines they like to drink themselves, and lets just say they have great taste
