"This could be the finest non-vintage champagne in the world? This Roederer Brut Premier is all class. A perfect balance and crystalline poise is achieved by the use of top quality fruit, some aged in oak to add a perfectly calibrated counterweight of nutty and oxidative complexity to this otherwise fine and fresh style. Touted as better than many other houses vintage wines, the Roederer NV IS the definition of refinement in Champagne."
--------THE PRODUCER--------
Louis Roederer
Louis Roederer, a family-owned Champagne house founded in 1776, has a tremendous reputation for quality. The Louis Roederer House has remained an independent, family-owned company and is now managed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the seventh generation of the lineage. 80% of the firm's needs are supplied by their own 444 acres of vineyard holdings. Louis Roederer's Pinot Noir-based non-vintage Brut Premier is powerful and richly-honeyed and is far superior to most other producers` vintage Champagnes.
In 1876 Louis Roederer created the now famous Cristal, at the request of Alexander II. This once intensely sweet wine is now one of the most luscious, deeply-flavoured champagnes available.
--------THE GRAPE--------
Champagne Blend
It might not be obvious looking at a Champagne or any other sparkling wine made by the Methode Traditionelle method, but Pinot Noir is one of the main grapes, along with Chardonnay and to a lesser extent, Pinot Meunier. Pinot Noir helps to give body and aromatics, Chardonnay gives acidity and finesse and Pinot Meunier can add body and/or colour.
--------THE REGION--------
Champagne
Champagne is the famous region that is home to the world's most famous sparkling wines: Champagne. These wines are made via the Methode Tradtionelle process where the finished wines will undergo a secondary fermentation in bottle to create bubbles.
