"Pronounced “Too-tee” the 2019 Tytti is a blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The components are chosen for their fruit purity, texture, structure and concentration. The result is a wine of stature which rises from the glass with pure black fruit characters, hints of lavender and rose oil with a graphite edge. The palate is structured with ripe tannin and a firm grip that will loosen its tension with age."
--------THE PRODUCER--------
Man O War
Man O War is more than a winery, it is a bay with incredible historical ties back to Capt. James Cook as well as private holdings that back up what seems like the majority of Waiheke Island. It has vineyards all over their land which allow for each varietal to be at the best microclimate possible all in order to create some of the best wines on the island.
--------THE GRAPE--------
Bordeaux Red Blend
This is the most famous red blend of them all: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Just like in Bordeaux, where this blend originates from, you will almost always see Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot in the blend, too. Each grape brings its own special element to the overall wine be it acid, tannin, colour or aromatics.
--------THE REGION--------
Waiheke Island
Waiheke Island is a 40 minute ferry ride from Auckland's main harbour and has a range of microclimates completely unique to the island. It is the home to many exciting wines but are the Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blends and the Syrahs that have put it on the map here and across the world.
