Named after Tim and Judy’s daughter Rosie, the block sits on a slightly higher elevation to the Home Block just 1km away. This Chardonnay is a sibling to what is deemed the keystone in our portfolio - Neudorf Home Block Moutere Chardonnay.

A wine that naturally exudes what we call “Moutereness” - a complex combination of restrained and elegant savoury notes bound together by something that reminds us of a lazy, hazy summer evening.

A modern, vibrant and sophisticated Chardonnay. Exceptionally integrated and dynamic. Elegant oak frames the wine - this harmony of barrel, fruit and flint is reassuringly familiar. The wine tapers with considered structure and chalky texture.

A quietly confident chardonnay.

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Neudorf

Neudorf Vineyards is considered one of New Zealand’s treasured Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Producers. Planted by Tim and Judy Finn in 1978, the vineyard is based on gravelly soils of an ancient river system. The area’s gentle climate, combined with Neudorf’s non interventionist winemaking, produce wines of clarity and distinction. Winemaker Todd Stevens follows structure and texture over flavour and in the Moutere vineyard viticulturalist Stef Brockley follows an organic regime with intense hand work.

Chardonnay

Chardonnay is without a doubt the most known and most widely planted white grape variety around the world. It is historically home in Burgundy where it produces a more refined, mineral and poised wines all up and down the Cote de Beaune and in Chablis. Throughout the new world it gained fame in both California and Australia where it is known to produce big, rich, buttery and tropical fruit-laden white wines.

Nelson

Located in the north-west of South Island, this warm enclave is hemmed in by Mount Arthur and the Southern Alps. Riesling has found its feet among the free-draining, stony silt soils while Gewürztraminer also shows potential.
