Richly fragrant, youthful and creamy, with a tight array of intense grapefruit, peach and fig flavours, it shows lovely delicacy and depth. A lovely expression of Gisborne Chardonnay fruit forward and flavoursome. Lifted citrus, floral and peaches on the nose followed by a full, rich palate showing round, silky text and well balanced acidity. “Top vintages represent Gisborne Chardonnay at its finest” – Michael Cooper.

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Odyssey Wines

Odyssey Wines is owned by Rebecca Salmond. Rebecca’s voyage into winemaking began at Massey University in New Zealand and Adelaide University’s Roseworthy College in Australia, where she graduated with a degree in Biotechnology and a Post Graduate Diploma in Winemaking Science.

She then travelled and worked in some of the world’s finest wine and culinary regions: Burgundy, Bordeaux and Cote Rotie in France; Alto Adige and Sicily in Italy; Marlborough and Hawkes Bay in New Zealand. Rebecca launched her label Odyssey in 1994, with small amounts of premium wines. Odyssey now owns 68 acres of land in Marlborough’s Brancott Valley with 25 acres currently under vine.

Rebecca’s well-honed philosophy sees her making only subtle adjustments to the wine, and using where appropriate the finest oaks. All wines are single vineyard. Odyssey Wines has garnered a number of accolades and awards. Kym Watt joined Odyssey Wines in 2006 and runs the office and sales in Auckland.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Chardonnay

Chardonnay is without a doubt the most known and most widely planted white grape variety around the world. It is historically home in Burgundy where it produces a more refined, mineral and poised wines all up and down the Cote de Beaune and in Chablis.

--------THE REGION--------

Gisborne

Gisborne is one of the smallest wine regions in New Zealand. At one point it was synonymous with Chardonnay and Muller-Thurgau but things have since changed and it is now a hub of aromatic white wines and small producers. The shining light amongst the region is Millton Vineyards.
