Pinot Noir
Pinot Noir produces some of the world's most expensive, most lauded, rarest and delicious wines. Equally it is one of the most difficult grapes to grow successfully and as a result it is quite hard to make a balanced Pinot Noir. It is historically from Burgundy, most specifically in the Côte de Nuits, so much so that Pinot Noir is often referred to as a 'Burgundy'. There the wines are light with an array of bright red fruit and floral flavours. Given its popularity you will find it many regions outside of France, most notably in Oregon and California in the Russian River Valley and Santa Barbara County regions of the USA, Walker Bay of South Africa, Tasmania of Australia or in Central Otago and Martinborough of New Zealand. We can't forget that Pinot Noir is Chardonnay's blending partner in Champagne and many other Methode Traditionelle sparkling wines across the world.
