Vineyards for his wines are leased and grapes sourced from around the Western Cape, maritime in nature where possible. Granitic soil is the focus.
"The 2022 Never Been Asked To Dance is Savage's Chenin Blanc planted in 1956 that had been abandoned for many years. One-third has been replanted in recent years with some interpolated Picpoul, Palomino, Grenache Blanc etc. It has a seductive bouquet with scents of shaved almond, beeswax, yellow plum and light orange blossom scents. The palate is very well balanced with fine tannins, a keen line of acidity, lightly spiced with hints of orange rind and white pepper on the finish. This is very classy and precise".
