Above Te Rere Point on Waiheke Island’s western coastline, sits Te Rere Estate which encompasses four individual vineyards covering 3.4 hectares. Under the guidance of renowned local winemaker, Mike Wood, the vines are hand tended, their grapes handpicked, creating wines that naturally reflect the unique ‘terroir’.

 2020 was an exceptional year at Waiheke Island. Hot and dry. The result is an exceptional wine. The 2020 Syrah is deep purple in colour and aged in French oak barrels for 10 months. The wine has spicy aromas of baking spices, pepper and opulent red plums. Medium to full-bodied, the fruit follows through the palate with well-structured tannins and a long, lingering finish. Enjoy now or cellar with confidence for up to 10 years.

About The Producer 

A boutique, family-owned vineyard nestled in a sheltered valley in Church Bay, Waiheke Island. Its purpose is to produce small volumes of premium wines through sustainable viticulture and artisan winemaking. Award-winning winemaker Michael Wood produces high-quality wine via very low-yielding crops to create immaculate fruit, then allowing, as much as possible, for nature to take its course in the winery.

Te Rere produces a range of different varietals - a dry Pinot Gris, superb rich and complex Chardonnay, and a deep rich Reserve Syrah. Most of our wines have received accolades, with the Chardonnay and Reserve Syrah receiving 4.5 and 5 stars from Michael Cooper. Te Rere wines prove that small-production wines from a micro-site vineyard can still pack an impressive punch.
