"Very intense garnet-cherry red. Powerful, complex aroma, with abundant ripe red and dark fruit, and well-integrated find wood. There are also elegant mineral notes, spices, toffee and liquorice. Very expressive in the mouth, with a silky, fresh, tasty, intense mouthfeel, leaving a long aftertaste, complex and elegant."

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Vivanico Wines

Rafael Vivanco founded Vivanco Wines as he felt that wines have the power to tell stories. Stories of the land, the people, the year and so much more. He had a true connection with the region of Rioja and started to create wines to tell people about the diversity of the region. The rest is history as they say. Now Vivanco is producing a wide range of excellent wines that show off each varietal and soil type that Rioja has to offer both individually and in some of the most well crafted blends the region has to date.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Grenache/Garnacha

Grenache is the French name, and Garnacha the Spanish, of this great red grape varietal. There are often heated discussions as to which country has the historical right to it but politics aside it is a widely popular and successful grape in the hottest of regions. Perhaps it is best known for being the lead grape in the blend of the wines of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.

--------THE REGION--------

Rioja

Rioja can quite happily be called the heart of Spain's wine industry as it is producing some of the most classic wines in the country and has been doing it for quite some time now. The oldest vines are thought to date back to 2BC. Modern Rioja (Post 1850s) was actually created by French winemakers who were fleeing from the phylloxera louse that ate up their vineyards in Bordeaux, and came to Rioja for its perfect wine-growing climate in hopes to find the 'next Bordeaux'. The red wines are most famous and are made predominantly from Tempranillo with a help from Garnacha (Grenache).
