"This wine has an intense ruby red colour, with plum cake, red fruit, and dark chocolate aromas, offering a savoury finish. The 2018 has more finesse than the 2015, and has richness to the palate leaving you salivating for more."

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Beeslaar

Beeslaar's Pinotage from the Stellenbosch region is considered to be one of South Africa's top examples of it. It was started by Jeanne and Jan Coetzee who after a lifetime of making and selling wine for other people decided to start their own project. Beeslaar only makes one wine: Pinotage - which was born with the 2012 vintage and is already starting to gain international success.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Pinotage

Pinotage is the red grape varietal of South Africa. In fact it was essentially created for South Africa in the 1920s by blending Pinot Noir and Cinsault. The idea was to get the lightness and aromatics of Pinot Noir and the heat-hardiness of Cinsault. Since then it has become the trademark red grape varietal of South Africa.

--------THE REGION--------

Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch is the leading quality region in South Africa. It is home to many of the most famous estates and many of the top wines. Generally speaking it is a red wine hub with Pinotage, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon at the helm, though recently more white wines are taking over.
