The pignolo, in Friulian “Pignul” or “Pignol”, is one of the oldest native vines of Friuli Venezia Giulia, and seems to draw its name from the fact that the bunches are very closed and tight, recalling the shape of a pine cone. A rare and almost endangered variety, it offers prestigious and refined wines, such as the Venezia Giulia Rosso IGT “Pignol” from the Mastri Vinai Bressan winery.

After a long fermentation with a maceration on the skins for at least a month, it rests in oak barrels for three years and is completed with a 15 months bottle refinement. Elegant and full-bodied, it is a great wine to be discovered.
