Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc is a versatile white grape variety that produces a wide range of white wines all over the world. Historically, and where it is planted most, is in the Loire Valley of northern France. Here it is famous in Anjou-Saumur particularly in Vouvray, where it is usually found as a sparkling or dry white wine. The sweetest examples come from Savennières, Coteaux du Layon or from the Quarts de Chaume regions. However it has found a home, where it is colloquially known as Steen, in South Africa, where it is the most-planted white grape variety. Flavours vary but ripe stonefruit, honey and apple flavours are typical along with firm acidity.
