"Deep purple core, with a ruby rim. The wine opens with sweet floral perfumes, developing further to reveal wild bramble, mulberry, spicy rhubarb and liquorice. The palate is generous and juicy, but also quite focussed and elegant, with harmonious, well integrated oak, and a clean, appetising and long finish."

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Kaapzicht

Kaapzicht is one of South Africa's leading wine estates found in the heart of the Stellenbosch, and certainly one of the most iconic wineries of the country. You simply need to ask a handful of top wine critics who are the top players on the South African wine scene to find Kaapzicht thrown about a few times over. Their Pinotage is already recognised as one of the country's top examples.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Syrah/Shiraz

Both Syrah or Shiraz is the name given to this grape varietal depending on where you are in the world. In France, particularly in the Rhone Valley, it goes by the name of Syrah and it makes the floral reds of Hermitage, Cornas, St Joseph and Cote Rôtie. Whereas in Australia, particularly in the Barossa Valley, it is Shiraz and it produces bolder, spicier and oaky red wines.

--------THE REGION--------

Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch is the leading quality region in South Africa. It is home to many of the most famous estates and many of the top wines. Generally speaking it is a red wine hub with Pinotage, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon at the helm, though recently more white wines are taking over.
