"The palate is soft and light, with some perceptible residual sugar but nothing too tiringly sweet. It's well-balanced with a good aciditiy, a lighter body. A wine that goes down well overall. Easy to drink, light and refreshing it is"

SOGRAPE

The history of Mateus Rosé goes back to 1942, when Fernando Van Zeller Guedes founded Sogrape and created a light, fresh sparkling wine, in a bottle inspired by soldiers' flasks from World War I, chosen to stand out from more typical designs. Production grew through the '50s and '60s and, by the 1980s, worldwide sales for the rosé plus a white version were 3.25 million cases per year, accounting for 40 percent of Portuguese table wine exports.
