Origin : Valle de Maule

Vineyard Notes: The terroir of the vineyard produces a wine with dense colour and good concentration of aromas, dominated by ripe red fruits, spices and a balanced acidity. The valley’s meso-climatic conditions ensure a good, naturally healthy, vineyard.

Vintage Notes: Grapes hand-picked during the last week of April.

Fermentation Notes: Goal is to obtain fresh, fruity, vibrant and concentrated wines. The grapes were destemmed and gently pressed for a long cold maceration. Selected yeasts. Prolonged contact with the skin. Fermentation temperatures were moderate for a gentle extraction of tannins, this way we maintain fruit and freshness of the wine. Complete malolactic fermentation

Ageing:  Aged in French oak, some new.

Filtration: Wine cold stabilized and filtered <3 NTU.

Analysis:

Colour : Intense red with purple hints.

Aromas : Intense, at first highlighting sweet and spicy tones to then open to ripe red fruits, finally we find soft notes of white pepper, tobacco and cocoa.

Palate : Concentration of soft and ripe tannins; it is a savoury wine with balanced acidity, rounded and with a long and persistent finish.

Best served at 17-18°C

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Millaman Winery

José Canepa, an Italian immigrant, who purchased the Hacienda El Condor estate in 1946 starting the dream of producing the best wines of Curicó Valley. In 1998 the desire to expand and perpetuate the wine tradition through his three daughters led to the creation of a new winery based on the Hacienda, giving rise to Millaman Wines.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Carmenere

Carmenere is the red grape of Chile where it makes up nearly 10% of all of the country's vineyard. While it is not the most planted it is Chile's own little baby and produces some of the best wines of the country. That said it historically comes from France and it was brought over to Chile where people long thought it to be Merlot until the mid-twentieth century.

--------THE REGION--------

Chile

Chile is best known for its savoury and spicy reds made from Carmenere, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon yet it is moving in an exciting direction of late with its crisp Semillons, Chardonnays and Sauvignon Blancs.
