"Sweet spice, freshly picked red plums, black cherries and cola are supported by aromatic toasted coconut and milk chocolate from the youthful oak. The bright cored palate of the 2012 shows more elegance and freshness, but retains the characteristic fine grained, polished tannin structure that is accessible and mouth-watering now, but will also develop further complexity with bottle age."

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Kaapzicht

Kaapzicht is one of South Africa's leading wine estates found in the heart of the Stellenbosch, and certainly one of the most iconic wineries of the country. You simply need to ask a handful of top wine critics who are the top players on the South African wine scene to find Kaapzicht thrown about a few times over. Their Pinotage is already recognised as one of the country's top examples.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Pinotage

Pinotage is the red grape varietal of South Africa. In fact it was essentially created for South Africa in the 1920s by blending Pinot Noir and Cinsault. The idea was to get the lightness and aromatics of Pinot Noir and the heat-hardiness of Cinsault. Since then it has become the trademark red grape varietal of South Africa.

--------THE REGION--------

Stellenbosch

Stellenbosch is the leading quality region in South Africa. It is home to many of the most famous estates and many of the top wines. Generally speaking it is a red wine hub with Pinotage, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon at the helm, though recently more white wines are taking over.
