Kaapzicht - Steytler Vision Cape Blend 2012

A harmonious composition of Pinotage, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, giving texture, intensity and depth. It captures Danie Steytler Snr’s vision of producing the ultimate Cape Blend, truly expressive of the Bottelary sub-region.

Over time nuances and layers of flavour will unfold, rewarding those patient enough to cellar.

TASTING NOTE Power and concentration, within a tightly woven structure. Generous cassis and blackberries as well as vanilla and spice from the oak. Complex & multi-dimensional. Those who can resist the temptation of drinking it too young will be rewarded well.

GRAPE VARIETIES 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Pinotage, 15% Merlot

IN THE VINEYARD Vines planted in weathered granite topsoil on a layer of gravel, above a crumbly clay sub-soil. Yield of 6 – 7 tons per hectare.

IN THE CELLAR The three varieties were vinified and aged separately in small French oak barrels for 23 months, personally selected by the winemaker and then blended.

ALCOHOL 14.40% TOTAL ACIDITY 6.0g/ℓ RESIDUAL SUGAR 3.2g/ℓ PH 3.50

AGEING 15 years maturation should greatly reward with complexity and elegance.
