Bright straw-yellow colour with light golden hues. The nose is full and lively with vibrant aromas of ripe savoury citrus fruits layered with harmonious notes of creamy barrel-ferment, nutty oak and subtle flinty lees and reductive notes. The aromatics build in depth, breadth and complexity in the glass. Medium-full bodied, the palate is intense and deeply concentrated with flavours of ripe citrus and savoury stonefruits entwined with mealy and nutty oak layers. The creamy barrel-ferment lends richness and unctuousness, unfolding flinty lees and toasty oak. The mouthfeel is openly accessible, but carried by a fine structured, concentrated core and line with fresh, enlivening acidity. The palate carries to a long, lingering, complex nuanced finish with citrus fruitsm nuts and toasty oak. Match with roasted poultry and pork over the next 5-6 years. Mendoza clone fruit from the ‘Riverview’ vineyard, hand-picked, 50% foot-stomped with stems and soaked 3 hours, and 50% WBP. The wine was indigenous yeast barrel fermented with full solids in puncheon to 14.5% alc., the wine aged 12 months in oak with MLF conversion. Only new puncheons were selected for the blend.
