A good dose of rye spice. Good balance of flavours on the nose and palate, with caramel custard, bright fruit (Clementine, golden raisin orange marmalade), a peppering of spice (fresh mint, warming cinnamon, dried vanilla), green tea, a hint of toasted marshmallow, and a pleasing dried oak, tobacco-tinged finish. Lots of character!

Jim Murray's Whisky Bible, 2010 Edition: 92.5 Rating

1792 Small Batch earned a score of 95 points, tying Pappy Van Winkle's 23 Year Old Bourbon, at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge in 2012.

1792 Small Batch is Barton’s flagship bourbon. Having undergone naming changes over the years from 1792 Ridgewood Reserve, to 1792 Ridgemont Reserve, and finally to 1792 Small Batch, the brand has maintained its position as a sub-$30 bourbon that’s bold in character. While still branded as 1792 Ridgemont Reserve, the 8 year age statement found on the back of the bottle was removed in late 2013. Not long after, the bottle design was updated in conjunction with the change to 1792 Small Batch.
