For those looking for a lighter style of red wine, this Gamay Noir is soft on the palate, with fresh strawberries, bramble and spicy mouth watering finish. Definitely one to be served lightly chilled! The wine is super fresh and delicate from its time spent in contact with the clay amphora.

This Gamay Noir is from the exceptional Two Terraces vineyard in the Mangatahi Terraces, Hawke’s Bay. Ian and Linda Quinn are conscientious and detail oriented growers with the quality of their grapes being exceptional. I drew inspiration from my time working in Beaujolais and made this wine as a blend of the different clones, as they were were picked almost two weeks apart. The vinification was 100% carbonic maceration (whole grape bunches, no juice) for two weeks. The wine was pressed off and when dry was aged in Tinaja (amphora) and a few neutral barrels.

No additions at any stage, including sulphur. The wine is unfiltered and unfined.

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Amoise

Often found working in the vineyards, I believe in connecting to the vines that produce my wines each year.

My time living and working in various wine regions worldwide allowed me learn from hardworking vignerons who put their energies and efforts into the vineyards to enable them to simply guide their grapes to the winery and bottle with minimal intervention.

I believe in capturing the grapes at the best possible moment so that my wines can be their most expressive of the vintage. Each growing season has a different story to tell.

--------THE REGION--------

Hawkes Bay

Sunny Hawkes Bay is along the eastern coast of New Zealand's north island. It is here where some of the most fruit-forward wines come from. They are known for their tropical Chardonnays and their juicy reds from the excellent Bordeaux wines to the peppery Syrahs.
