Ripe forest berry, fragrant blue flower, menthol and baking spice aromas lift out of the glass along with an earthy dose of underbrush. Savory and elegant, the smooth palate offers ripe red cherry, juicy pomegranate, cinnamon and star anise alongside taut, polished tannins. Drink 2022–2029.

The Producer

Castello di Verduno is an historic estate in Piedmont run by Franco Bianco and his wife, Gabriella, along with their daughters, Giovanna and Marcella. Over several generations, their family has amassed an enviable holding of vineyards in Barolo and Barbaresco, through both inheritance and marriage. Included among their Barbaresco holdings are vines in the famous Crus of Rabaja and Faset. Their young enologist, Mario Andrion, is extremely hands-on with both his organic work in the vineyards and his traditional winemaking practices in their immaculate cellar. Castello di Verduno is known for producing wines of finesse, elegance and complexity that age very well. The combination of the magical terroir of the Rabaja and Faset Cru vineyards and the excellent vintage conditions has produced one of the most exceptional values in all of Piedmont.
