The terroir is typical of Pauillac, consisting mostly of gravel over a limestone subsoil. The 60-hectare vineyard is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot. The current expressions are well known for their deep, dark colour and their red-fruit nose. On the palate they are generous and round, with ripe tannins followed by the ubiquitous hints of blackcurrant that are found in the wines of Pauillac.

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Château Lynch-Moussas

Classified as a Fifth Growth property in 1855, Lynch-Moussas was originally a very large estate owned by the Irish Lynch family. It was eventually split into two halves, the other becoming Château Lynch-Bages, with Lynch-Moussas retaining the original building.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Bordeaux Red Blend

This is the most famous red blend of them all: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with, often, dollops of Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Each grape brings its own special element to the overall wine, be it acid, tannin, colour or aromatics.

--------THE REGION--------

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the most important and well-known regions in the wine world. Home to 'Claret' a red wine made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, 'Sauternes', a golden goddess of fermented botrytised white grapes, and Bordeaux Blanc, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon which can be complex or simply refreshing.
