"A very classic wine for patient connoisseurs, Sociando-Mallet makes no compromises and continues to produce one of the finest wines among non-classified estates in Haut-Médoc. Dense purple to the rim, the opaque purple-coloured 2010 offers up notes of graphite, blueberry and black raspberry fruit, a hint of cassis, some licorice and wet rocks."

--------THE PRODUCER--------

Château Sociando-Mallet

Château Sociando-Mallet is located in the Haut-Médoc, in the commune of Saint-Seurin-de-Cadourne. The 57 hectares of vineyards are planted in 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. Owned for the last 20 years by Jean Gautreau, the quality here has been on the up ever since he took the helm.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Bordeaux Red Blend

This is the most famous red blend of them all: Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Just like in Bordeaux, where this blend originates from, you will almost always see Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot in the blend, too. Each grape brings its own special element to the overall wine be it acid, tannin, colour or aromatics.

--------THE REGION--------

Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the most important and well-known regions in the wine world. Home to 'Claret' a red wine made from the eponymous Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, 'Sauternes', a golden goddess that is sweet enough to make you silly, and Bordeaux Blanc, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon which can be complex or simply refreshing.
