A classic expression of this terroir, the 2020 Gigondas Le Lieu-Dit is all Grenache from a cooler, sandy parcel located just beside the domaine. It has beautiful red (and some black) fruits as well as spicy, floral nuances. It’s pure silk on the palate and is medium to full-bodied, seamless, and pure. I’d buy it if I saw it."

----ABOUT THE PRODUCER----

Les Bosquets is six centuries of winegrowing history. The first notarial deeds bearing the mention "vinea culta" were established at Lieu dit Les Bosquets, in 1376... still old...

In this Rhone bastion of blending, we very quickly began to work in Burgundy, which may seem paradoxical. The plot has become our vision, the expression of the terroir our religion. Making a non-reproducible, unique wine interests me...

But in the beginning, the idea was not to do differently from others, but simply to do our best. And doing our best has led us to do things differently. The cornerstone of Les Bosquets is diversity. So we started to dissect everything to understand...

We therefore overhauled the vinification process, with the introduction of parcel vinification, the renovation of the underground cellar for the aging, and finally, in 2016, the culmination of this thought with the creation of a micro-vinification workshop. in addition to the original cellar. 10 years later, we have gone from 1 wine to 7… We explore.

I remain convinced that on an appellation like Gigondas, we can make 1000 different wines. Diversity is everywhere. Altitude, orientation, soils, basements, exposure to the wind, to the sun, to the influence of the woods, in short… Everything requires approaching things in detail.

So we will continue to explore. And who knows, maybe one day, as a great winemaker from the cool, sandy terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-pape predicted to me, when I have sufficiently mastered all my terroirs, I will move on to the composition stage. , and will only make one wine, which will crown these years of learning...

To be continued…
