--------THE PRODUCER--------

Saumaize-Michelin

Domaine Saumaize-Michelin is on a roll and making consistently wonderful white Burgundies at affordable prices. Based in the tiny and pretty village of Vergisson, west of the town of Macon and just under the famous “Roche de Solutre”, Christine and Roger Saumaize runs one of the star domaine of the region since 1978.

This couple of 'purists' produces wines with lovely finesse, minerality and complexity. As Roger has a huge respect for his 'Terroir', all the work in the vineyard is biodynamic. Horses are back in the best limestone vineyards to plough like in the past – fantastic thing to see again! It is a very small domaine with only 9.5 hectares planted in Chardonnay and 0.5 in Gamay. They make numerous vineyard designated Pouilly Fuisses as well as Macon and Saint Véran.
