--------THE PRODUCER--------

Mondo del Vino

Mondo del Vino was founded in 1991 by 3 winemakers and is a company at the forefront of environmental performance analysis, as well as being the first winery in Europe to embrace the EU green policy. The company has previously been awarded Best Wine Producer by Mundus Vini and Best Italian Wine Producer in the Austrian Wine Challenge. Their respect for regional distinctiveness is married with a modern, global winemaking perspective and they craft characterful, eminently drinkable wines sourced from over 5000 hectares of vineyards across several different regions.

--------THE GRAPE--------

Primitivo

Primitivo comes from the Latin “primativus” meaning “first to ripen” and it is one of the first grape varieties to be harvested in Italy. This variety arrived was officially recognized in Puglia in 1881 but had been in the region for hundreds of years and has Croatian parentage. Primitivo is a dark-skinned grape known for producing inky, opulent, full-bodied, wines with ripe blueberry/black cherry characters with hints of Mediterranean vegetation and powerful but well-rounded tannins. It is a fantastic match for red meat and strong cheeses and offers more flavour for your dollar than virtually any other wine on the market.

--------THE REGION--------

Puglia

Puglia (the heel of Italy) is Italy’s largest wine region by plantings and second in terms of production. Even though it is famed for its rich reds made from the Negroamaro and Primitivo varieties, 53% of the production is white.
